Don't start another diet, Stop Counting calories it's NOT the answer! Nor is the latest best selling diet book - Dieting doesn't work! There I've said it. If you want to lose weight the very first thing you need to change is your mindset!
Some people like to be seen wearing the latest designer label in fashion. It is also now a rapidly growing trend to be following the latest diet or food regime eg vegan, raw, 5:2 and so many more. Whether it be what you wear or what you eat and how, it matters a lot ... to some people! How you see yourself and how you are perceived by your peer group and society can seem very important, an insight into the type of person you are, which can feel quite revealing. People put themselves under a lot of pressure to follow the rules of a diet, detox or fast and it seems anything less than 100% shows weakness, a lack of self discipline.
Does it really matter? What really matters is finding what works for you and your body and achieving optimum health. When it comes to following food trends, the latest diets etc - ditch the rigid rules and start making your own. Get back in communication with your body and find what works for you. Eat when your body signals hunger, not by the clock.
I believe a plant based diet is the way forward for long term health and wellbeing. Any excess weight will balance out, your immune system will get a boost - much needed at this time of year and your skin will glow! Aim to eat fresh wholefoods, close to their natural form and choose organic wherever possible. If you read ingredients and don't recognise names, why would you put them in your body? Your body makes new cells from the foods you eat so you literally become what you eat or more accurately, what you digest.
If you are tired of promises from the latest cutting edge fix, please don't start the New Year with a resolution to begin another diet - make this the year you make a life change and focus on health not weight. Be kind to yourself, stop focusing on negatives think of all the things that are amazing about you. Don't waste precious time putting things on hold until you lose some weight… Do them now!
