I'm going to be honest here, I love the ritual of making and drinking my morning latte. I enjoy the whole experience. On the downside, I know coffee is acidic and it doesn't exactly fit with the healthy high raw regime I follow but... I tell myself it's not so bad as I choose organic and only have one cup! Maybe my daily green smoothie and juice balance it all out right? Wrong!
The time has come to quit and I'm going to have to be gentle with myself. I have tried substitutes in the past but they just don't do it for me. What I am looking to do now is create a new morning ritual that starts my day with the soothing hug in a mug I currently enjoy.
I've thought about what it is I desire from my morning brew and it is something warm and creamy with a little kick to it. I have researched, tried and tested various options and I've found it has to be something 'milky' for me. Tea wouldn't work. I love herbal teas but not at this time in the day. So here is my new favourite morning latte.
Morning Latte
Ingredients:
11/2 cups coconut water or filtered water
1 tablespoon raw almond butter
1-2 medjool dates for sweetness if desired
1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
1 teaspoon Maca powder
1/4 teaspoon Matcha
1 teaspoon Lucuma
1 tablespoon Cacao powder
1/2 teaspoon Ashwaganda
pinch of cayenne pepper
pinch of himalayan sea salt
Instructions:
Blend all the ingredients for a couple of minutes, until warm. Pour into your favourite mug. Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg and enjoy!
Tip:
To save time, prep all the dry ingredients the evening before and store in an airtight container.
