The Fresh Festival 2007

FfcoversmallMany emails have been coming in asking about the Fresh Festival 2007.

Will there be one? Where will it be? When will it be? Who will be there this year?

Well, all that is up for discussion at the moment as although the three Festivals so far have all been amazing events, we know we can do better, so... this year we want YOU to help us design it! And now is the time.

With this in mind, we've created a survey which you can access here.

It will take about 10 minutes to complete and as a thank you for your efforts there's a great gift waiting for you which you can read more about when you click through. (If you already have it, let us know and we'll give you an alternative so you don't miss out!).

We'd REALLY love your feedback - if we don't have it we are shooting in the dark, so please tell us what you want and we'll do our best to make it happen so that the 2007 Festival is absolutely the best one yet - and you can benefit from your own input!

Fresh Festival Page 1 of 12: Raw Food is No Fun If...

‘Raw food is no fun if you’re feeling confused, bored or all alone’

You know that eating raw food makes you look and feel your very best, and you know that you want to make it a part of your life ongoingly - perhaps forever. The problem is, it’s hard going it alone or socialising with friends, and sometimes you just get bored with the same old salad, nuts and smoothie routine - and to top it all, confusion reigns within the raw food world about what exactly you should be eating anyway! It’s not hard to see why choosing raw can often seem more like a pain than a genuine and uplifting pleasure.

In this situation you are left feeling “between a rock and a hard place” wondering if it’s really worth the effort. Yet in spite of the outer challenges, you know deep down that you really want to eat raw and really make it work for you. So what’s the solution? Give it all up and go back to feeling tired, half-alive and uninspired, or accept the fact that choosing raw can be challenging, alienating and difficult sometimes?

Neither scenario is particularly attractive, is it?

The good news is, right now around the world there are people living and loving their life on raw foods, enjoying vibrant health, eating delicious meals each and every day and enjoying an inspiring social life with like-minded uplifting friends. But do you know who they are, where they are and how to reach them? And if you do, and you dropped them an email or gave them a call, would they have the time to speak to you anyway? …Frustrating, isn’t it?

Yet this is the reality for most raw food enthusiasts around the world today. A sense of isolation instead of celebration, and yet an ongoing and genuine longing to connect with others who share your lifestyle and food choices, and those who really understand your dilemmas and can help you overcome your challenges. What you really need is to hear the best advice, taste the best foods, be amongst some of the most inspiring people on the planet, meet people just like you, learn how to change all aspects of your raw life for the better and furthermore to know that the people you are taking advice from are people you will like and trust – established, credible speakers with a valid history – the Fresh Festival 2006 will give you exactly this and more.

The fact is, when you bring together world-leading authorities on raw health and live food cuisine, and have each of them talk about their own specialist areas in a way that makes sense and is actually doable, and then you welcome in hundreds of raw food fans from around the world and create lots of fun opportunities to mix and socialise, you can only come out enlightened, re-inspired, confident, competent, with new friends and a much bigger social circle and feeling fully alive and raring to go!

The Fresh Festival 2006 is the third festival of its kind, but this year’s is very different. Instead of having lots of speakers talk about their favourite subjects and potentially confuse you or not cover the topics you most want to hear about, this year we’ve asked what you most want to learn about, what problems you’ve been facing that have most been holding you back or bothering you and we have designed a festival to address and solve all of these issues and more. This year our amazing speakers will be leading you step by step (just like a book) through all the many facets of going raw – right from the “why?” to the “how” and all the way through to the “what next?” and beyond. Over the course of the weekend you will be walked through every step of the raw food journey from start to finish, so that by the end of it you will know exactly what you’re doing, what you’re going to do next, will have made many great new like-minded friends to share your journey with and will be more than well equipped to go away and create a raw lifestyle that works for you in every way – right from creating vibrant health, to making delicious meals, to happily eating out with less-enthusiastic friends and family, as well as having some great ideas for what to do with your raw energy next – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

Attend Friday for just £35*, Saturday for just £99*, Gala dinner for just £35, Sunday for just £75*, the Weekend for just £165* or all 3 days for just £200*

Fresh Festival Page 3 of 12: Some of the Issues You'll Overcome

Some of the issues you’ll overcome

‘I’m interested to go raw, or at least part way, but really don’t know where to start. Will this festival speak to me, or is it just suitable for people already into raw food?’

At this Festival we are starting right from the very beginning so that those who are new to raw and living food will get a fantastic grounding in the subject, and those who are further along will get to see if there’s any basics they may have overlooked. In actual fact, if you’re new to this you’re especially fortunate as what you learn in October will save you years of trying to figure it out for yourself, and consequently save you masses of time, money and energy as a result – not to mention preventing you from making those usual early-days mistakes! And if you have any questions at all, all you need do is ask.

‘I love eating raw, but I’m a bit fed up of people thinking I’m weird – especially when I eat out. Will this event help me deal with these kinds of situations more easily?’

People are always quick to remark on anything that’s new and unusual – especially if they’re used to seeing you eat and drink a different way. During this Festival you’ll learn how to deal with “less than positive” comments, how to make raw food meals and dishes that will impress and inspire even the most cynical of friends, and you’ll also coming away feeling much more confident, secure and happy with your decision to eat raw. And of course for the whole weekend eating raw will be seen as the norm, which is always refreshing! If you stay true to yourself and put your choice to eat raw first, then eventually your friends and family will start to see the massive improvements in your appearance and energy levels (they will!), and they’ll be begging you to tell them how you did it!

‘I’ve been eating raw for some time but aren’t sure if I’m getting everything I need or if I’m actually doing well on it.’

Then you really need to come to this event. One of our new presenters this year, Philip Weeks, is one of the UK’s leading practitioners of natural health and uses a wide variety of practices to diagnose and treat nutritional imbalances and general poor health. Having been in practice since 1998, he has conducted over 10,000 health consultations over the past few years, including working with raw fooders, so he really knows his stuff. Philip will educate you about what to look for now, what to watch out for in the future and what to take especial care with in your diet and lifestyle. But there’ll be much more on this subject from other presenters too, so you’ll leave feeling confident about getting your nutritional needs met – the right way.

‘I find myself ongoingly confused. One expert tells me one thing and another tells me something completely different. How do I know what’s right and what’s wrong? Is this Festival going to help me get clear or more confused than ever?’

This Festival’s main aim is to completely eliminate any confusion you may have. By structuring this event as we have, you’ll be treated to the most up-to-date information from each and every speaker, all of whom are world class and all of whom will be speaking on their specialised subjects within the raw and living foods arena. You could say that they’re each the expert of a niche within a niche. This way you don’t just get the best – you get the best of the best, and this way no confusion should remain.

‘I love eating this way and want to continue doing so, but sometimes I must admit I do get a little bored. Am I going to be inspired to make and eat other things or will it all be really complicated food prep that I just won’t have time for in my everyday life?’

During this Festival you’ll have masses of opportunities to pick up ideas and inspiration about how to make great tasting food. Whether it’s sampling food from the Organic Bliss concessions booth, attending the gala dinner or learning from the many food demos taking place throughout the weekend – including the Raw Food for Beginners demos which are super-quick and easy, you cannot fail but to come away with lots of great ideas for feeding yourself delicious food as well as ideas for making food that your partner, children, family and friends will adore too.

In her work as a teacher and coach, Karen has recently developed a unique 7-step approach to “going raw” and these steps are taught at her hugely popular monthly Raw Food for Beginners classes and weekend workshops. Karen’s extensive knowledge and experience of all issues relating to raw food eating – particularly the emotional aspects, as well as her accessible, positive and inspiring take on “eating for energy” make her the most sought-after raw and living foods proponent in the UK today.

Matthew Kenney

Matthew is a new name to the Fresh Festival but not to the food world where he remains one of the culinary world’s most dynamic and innovative talents.  Working his way up through the ranks of various New York eateries, Matthew opened his first restaurant in 1993 - an upscale, Mediterranean influenced cuisine. During the following five years he built and opened several restaurants whose focus was regional Mediterranean cooking. In 1994, Matthew was named one of the Ten Best New Chefs in America by Food and Wine magazine. He also received two James Beard Nominations for Rising Star Chef in America. After several professional setbacks which included the collapse of his restaurant company, one day he happened to accompany a friend to a “raw vegan” restaurant.  Hesitant at first, Matthew not only found his raw meal enjoyable, but was struck by the mental and physical clarity he found upon dining. Bursting with renewed energy, Matthew set about learning all he could about raw cuisine and organic ingredients, and opened Pure Food and Wine in New York in 2004. What at first sounded like a crazy idea went on to take the culinary world by storm and soon become a wildly popular critical success. With this new found knowledge, he co-authored Raw Food, Real World, a recipe and lifestyle book that has quickly become one of the leading references in the raw food movement. Today Matthew runs Organic Umbrella which encompasses several different raw-related projects including The Plant in Dumbo restaurant and the Blue Green Organic Juice Café.

Paul Nison

At age 20 Paul was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (also know as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), a deadly affliction. After a search for answers and healing he transitioned to a raw food diet over 10 years ago, and was cured of all his illnesses. Since then Paul has written six books on the topic of health and nutrition and has appeared on numerous television and radio shows – he has also given more lectures on raw foods in the past 4 years than anyone else in the world, to his knowledge. A humble and entertaining speaker, Paul is known for being bold and to the point – but as a former stand-up comedian his presentations are often as funny as they are educational. Having learned and studied with the highly-respected Dr Fred Bisci, Paul continues to travel the world lecturing and continuing with his learning as he separates fact from fiction on the raw food world.

Rozalind has a Professorship in Applied Nutrition and has served as Senior National Course Director and Assessor of Exercise Teacher Training in the UK. Currently, Professor Graham is the proud full-time mother to her 100% raw-vegan daughter Faychesca. Awarded for her public speaking, Rozalind can transform the complexities of physiology into a compelling fairy-tale while her experience and integrity steal your heart.
