50th issue of Get Fresh! magazine now mailing
Hard though it is to believe, here is the 50th issue of Get Fresh! magazine. It wasn't always a gorgeous, glossy, full-colour journal and nor was it always called its current name; it started life as 'The Fresh Network News'. But nonetheless, the publication that was to evolve into the number one raw foods magazine in the world started life almost 16 years ago, in May 1992.
If you are a subscriber, you will be receiving your copy by this Friday if you live in the UK, and shortly thereafter if you live overseas.
If you are not already a subscriber, we are now making Get Fresh! easier to purchase than it has ever been. If you live in the US, look out for this issue in branches of Whole Foods Market and other high-end health stores from mid-March. (If it is not in your local health store, why not contact the manager and ask them to start carrying it - just tell them it is available from One Source Magazine Distribution.)
But we have taken things a good deal further than that. We want Get Fresh! to be a cinch to get hold of wherever you are in the world, so we are about to make this issue available to download from our website. Better still, it will cost just £2.97 - a 25% reduction on the cover price of the print magazine (and that's without taking into account the P&P costs). Later this week you will also find several other recent issues available as e-copies, and in the not too distant future we will have all 50 issues of Get Fresh! online and available to purchase either singly, or as part of some heavily discounted package deals. We are also about to start offering great-value e-subscriptions to Get Fresh! More about all of this in a few days...
Anyway, back to this issue of the magazine and what it contains:
- Our beginner's guide to wild plant foods: herbalist Brigitte Mars introduces seven common species, their specific benefits, and how to enjoy them.
- Electromagnetic pollution: Philip Weeks on the invisible threat to your health and the little-known steps you can take to minimize your exposure.
- Our exclusive interview with Dr Gabriel Cousens: the live foods leader talks about finding the raw diet that works for YOU, living a life of compassion, and his mission to bring the 'culture of life' lifestyle to the mainstream.
- The wise way to approach ALL stimulants, including raw chocolate, by Brendan Brazier
- How much sleep do we really need, asks Tonya Zavasta.
- Our 'Raw Guide to LA'. The best places to eat out in Los Angeles, plus the city's top chefs sharing their views on live foods and vibrant living.

PS Did I mention that this issue of Get Fresh! is the best ever?!!

Hi Sarah
Cover looks fabulous. What a journey it has been and continues to be! Congratulations and well done. If only people knew how hard you work!
Well... I will tell even if you're too modest!

Sarah.
Very pleased to hear that the paper version of the mag is on its way.
I think however that we should hold a competition amongst subscribers, to guess just how long it will be before there is no paper version at all and simply an e version.
Nothing wrong with just an e version by the way, and I wouldn't mind at all, but I just feel it is inevitable.
On a different note.
Do the new owners of The Fresh Network, intend on putting together the Fresh Festival. I heard that they did intend to.
It would be good to hear for sure though.
Nobody expects it. As new owners they may choose not to, but it would be good to read their views on the subject. One way or the other.
Best,
Neil Porter.
Hi Neil,
Thanks for your comments. I personally don't think PDFs will completely replace print on this magazine or in general. Just my little prediction, for what it's worth ; ) But we're really pleased to offer this option and make Get Fresh! easily accessible and affordable to many more people worldwide. And we do expect the e-magazine to soon overtake the print one in terms of circulation : )
Regarding the Festival, thanks for asking this question. All we can reveal at this stage is that there will not be a Festival this year but that the plan is absolutely for it to continue. The reason for the interruption is that it is (as Karen Knowler could tell you!) an *enormous* undertaking to plan and organize an event of this magnitude, and when Cary Kikis took over a year ago, he identified other areas as being bigger priorities. Due to his commitment to ensuring everything is done to the very highest standard, the festival has had to be reluctantly put on the back burner while our dedicated team focuses on other projects. But expect lots of exciting and FRESH events from this company soon, starting with Brian and Anna Maria Clement speaking in London on March 25 : )
